Recently on February 3, BTS’ j-hope published several videos on his newly-created public TikTok account. Among these videos is one where the male idol followed a TikTok trend using American musician Doechii‘s “Denial Is A River.” However, this video ended up sparking unreasonable hatred targeting j-hope.
To explain, at the Grammy Awards held on February 2, Doechii won “Best Rap Album,” marking a new height in her career. As a result, j-hope’s video using Doechii‘s music was accused of being his attempt to get “clout” from a recent Grammy winner.

Some even said that j-hope was “flopping”, alongside various other insulting words directed at the male idol’s personality, his appearance, and his achievements.
Fortunately, many people defended j-hope, explaining that the male idol was just having fun and following a TikTok trend – a thing that everyone on TikTok does. Some also recalled that Doechii once gave a shout out to BTS in the past, so this is far from “clout chasing”.
At the same time, many hope that j-hope’s using of Doechii’s music will lead to a collab between the two, especially when considered that Doechii is fond of BTS.
